The #MeToo movement has been prolific in recent months. Working on the philosophy ‘empower through empathy’, it is encouraging people to speak up about sexual harassment and assault to a large extent impacting people in the public eye. But what are the implications for ordinary employers? How does this impact managing sexual harassment in the workplace?

During the training, the Lawyers will:

  • Discuss the likely implications of this trend for Australian employers
  • Identify sexual harassment in your workplace
  • Explain how to address complaints of sexual harassment to mitigate legal and other risks
  • Discuss best practice processes for investigating incidents
  • Explain how to implement disciplinary processes, when required.

Learning Outcomes

It is important that managers and HR professionals understand the impacts of sexual harassment and assault and that this influences a large extent of individuals.

  • Understand the relevant legislation surrounding sexual harassment and assault in the workplace
  • Understand the impacts of sexual harassment and assault
  • Recognise how to identify and respond to employees that are affected by sexual harassment and assault
  • Understand the best practice processes for the workplace
  • Assess when and why a workplace incident investigation may be necessary
  • Explain when and what disciplinary action may be necessary if issues
  • Implement disciplinary actions when necessary
