Child Safety for Victorian Organisations

Description

Event Details

23 April 2024, 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

This webinar will provide an overview for Victorian organisations that provide services or facilities to children of their legal obligations under the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Significant legislative reforms have been implemented since the government’s Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse. The legislative framework requires employers to be able to demonstrate compliance with the mandatory Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme. Failing to comply with the minimum requirements and mandatory reporting scheme can expose organisations to significant legal risk, including but not limited to civil penalties.

Join Nikola Prestia and David Sztrajt, Partners at HR Legal who will cover key details about organisations’ obligations, and share first-hand experience with conducting and navigating complex investigations in this space and working with the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP).

This Webinar will cover:

  • An overview of the 11 Child Safe Standards which came into force from 1 July 2022
  • The Reportable Conduct Scheme and the types of conduct required to be reported
  • Key compliance documents organisations are required to implement under the Child Safe Standards
  • Overview of investigations into reportable conduct

Please note this webinar will not cover additional obligations for registered educational providers.

Our webinars are delivered free and online, we encourage questions from participants at any time during the webinar. We also run polls and questionnaires to keep you engaged and interacting.
